Field of kettles
Kettles, hot plates, timers, mint, 113 x 87 x 28cm, 2009
« S’asseoir et Manger », Group Exhibition, Galerie Croix-Baragnon, Toulouse, France [June 4 – Sept 12, 2009]

"The field of kettles" installation is about the ways and customs of tea. An accumulation of kettles – some of them switch on and off – creates an odd, poetical and discordent chant. The chattering and squealing of these many household appliances give the scene an absurd and anthropomorphic dimension. This tentacular « tea machine » manages to establish a connection between the beverage's oriental and western culture. It creates a fortuitous meeting and an odd ceremony.
