"In the summer of 2015, it was with the desire to explore certain aspects of the offers and ways of life of seaside leisure activities, that the two artists of La cellule (Becquemin & Sagot) chose to travel along a part of the Mediterranean coast, passing through three of the more remarkable sites in the Languedoc region, Aigues-Mortes, Le-Grau-du-Roi and La Grande-Motte. They wanted to observe and engage
with the paradox of a “fever for authenticity” (G. Lipovetsky) that expresses itself in the context of a society of hypermodernity, characterised notably by the frenetic development of offers of entertainment and consumption. This trip unfolded with onboard cameras in tow, at the heart of territories become tourist destinations, with their patrimonial, urban and architectural characteristics being displayed, and often hoisted aloft, almost like standards".
